Today we uploaded the final digitized volume of the Dutch Printer's Yearbook series. There were four books in total, starting with the 1906 edition. And the last volume is as interesting as the previous three!
We just digitized the second volume of Het drukkers jaarboek (The Printer's Yearbook). This series was published in Amsterdam in the early 20th century. Between 1906 and 1911 four yearbooks about were made.
Among other exciting things, I found in the last volume of the Dutch Printers Yearbook from 1911, was an article by Reinier Willem Petrus de Vries Jr. about a technique that "recently" attracted the attention of some bookbinders — starch marbling.
Between 1906 and 1911 four yearbooks about printing were published in Amsterdam. They were intended to stimulate a broader and more logical interpretation of the art of printing.
This is the third annual yearbook printed in Amsterdam. As with the previous ones, it is written in Dutch. However, as it offers many samples of contemporary printing, it may be interesting even if you don't know the language.
Wow! What a mustached bookbinder! I just posted some images of decorated initials from Het drukkers jaarboek 1906 recently, but there is much more interesting in this series of books. And amazing book industry ads is one of these things.
