Oftentimes there are discussions on affordability of bookbinding equipment on Facebook and forums. I’ve been preparing my studio for a new season (yeah, I haven’t had any classes since this summer in my workshop), and found the first press that I’ve made for myself more than ten years ago. Or should I call it a vise? Continue reading →
This happens again and again. Time after time. Every evening before a new class, I’m feeling a great anxiety about what will happen tomorrow. Even while I’m absolutely sure what to show my new students, and historically 99% of students are happy with the results, I’m really worried and nervous. Continue reading →
József Tari started to collect miniature books 45 years ago. His miniature library now holds more than 5000 tomes. The smallest book in his collection is just 2.9 x 3.2 millimeters in size. This is much larger than the smallest books ever created (like that one, made by Russian scientist in 2016), but still very impressive. Continue reading →

This 3,800-year-old Babylonian clay tablet is supposed to be the oldest surviving trigonometric table. It is at least 1,000 years older than works of the Greek mathematician Pythagoras. Continue reading →
A few months ago I’ve bought some Romanian stamps to use them to illustrate one of the videos I’ve been making at the moment. That brought my attention to the subject of book-themed stamps. Over the past months my collection was growing steadily and I want to share my progress with you today. Continue reading →
As some of you may know I work in a high school. Our new librarian wants to improve cataloguing system of the school’s library – the previous librarian has used some mix of paper catalog and Excel spreadsheets. The final inventory showed that she had done a very poor job. Continue reading →

So many things are done and even more things remain on different stages of planning and implementation. Its a great pleasure to work on that project and to have this connection with a passionate and diverse community of bookbinders from all over the world. Continue reading →
