1.5-Square-Meter Undercover Communist Printing House from 1905 – Bookish Talk #4
Often you can hear from a bookbinder or any other book artisan that they have a small workshop and what are the pros and cons of having a small working space. Well, here’s a 1.5 square meter printing house that produced thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of copies of newspapers in 1905 and 1906. That’s an underground communist publishing house that was active during the first revolt in 1905. And it was hidden well below a wholesale fruit shop in the very center of Moscow.
