One more celebrity appears to be a fan of bookbinding. During her royal tour of Africa, Meghan Markle revealed that book craft not only was her hobby, but she had taught it for some time. Well, always a pleasure to raise awareness for the craft. And if a royalty helps to attract some attention, it’s all for the best!
Unfortunately, there are not many details to share. The Duchess of Sussex bought several upcycled notebooks from a local South African organization Young Bucks. Simon Sizwe Mayson, from the Maker’s Valley Partnership that helps to kickstart such collectives, commented: “She bought these three little notebooks and also mentioned that she used to do workshops in bookbinding herself. She used to coach bookbinding.” A royal aide later confirmed that information but didn’t share any further details on when and where this occurred.
